A Stray to Botaram updates on Tuesday and Thursday.

Title: Short of What it Was
(Aun is lost in memory as he tries to recall what he knew of the glorious object that obsesses him. It has a quality in his vision that he cannot readily express. He feels as if he is falling towards comprehension, reaching out to grasp a new and alien concept...)
Aun: I didn’t know what to make of it, but for a time it brought a new intensity to my vision.
Just for an instant, and then it was gone! I tried to touch it and was punished for my presumption.
But since then, I seem to see it in my dreams, or think that I see it. It never seems as glorious as it was when I first beheld it.
But when I try to tell Chax about it, or even make sense of it myself, and relate it to words that I know…
(Aun feels himself falling past the glorious vision, unable to touch it.)
Aun: I always fall so short of what it was.

Recess

I apologize for interrupting the story at this point, which will leave both Chax and the reader in suspense, but I need to take a short break from Botaram to refresh my mind and work on a few story matters.

I will continue to post small updates of Botaram-related content on schedule; these may take the form of notes, drafts, text updates, rough scribbles like the one above, or answers to reader questions. If you wish to ask a question, please leave a comment below, or send an email via the address on my profile page (also below). I expect to resume regular updates on September 8th.

Thank you very much for reading this story!
