Title: Shadow upon the Record
Knifelike Voice: So there is no actual Precedence? Only its shadow upon the record? How can this excuse open treason?
Bladelike Voice: Treason is not defended, yet what defines treason deserves examination. Overly strict enforcement is not advisable.
(As they argue, Chax looks up at them, speechless, with growing concern.)
Knifelike Voice: How can deviance ever lead to perfection? Why tolerate the substandard?
Bladelike Voice: In each cycle, all is done according to Plan, Precedence is obeyed and yet the cycle ends with all unchanged.
Susekho grows heavier with the Namespikes of the Oistrem who defend Botaram, yet ever remains sundered from the World below.
If no latitude is allowed at all, then it will…

If the standard doesn’t lead to perfection either, then why not innovate? Of course, that’s the kind of question that gets a Namespike terminated with prejudice.

Susekho is a very ancient place and some thoughts take eons to complete. Consistency is the foundation of repeatable results.
In a bleak alien landscape, two creatures raised from birth to be each other's enemies decide to think instead. One seeks Botaram, a place of high ideals and austere beauty; the other seeks to protect Botaram from being defiled by creatures like the first. An uneasy truce is formed amid heartbreak and broken ties, and through the ashes of their world they search for a truth that may no longer exist, abandoning friends, honor, and perhaps their lives… or worse.
